Kunje Farm is nestled at the foot of a mountain range in a remote corner of the Koue Bokkeveld. A cool oasis in this harsh and beautiful wilderness, the accommodation takes the form of a bright, renovated farmhouse with a cottage attached, three self-catering cottages, and a rustic Mountain Hut that’s pet-friendly.
The farmhouse and cottage are both surrounded by beautiful gardens and craggy rock. Both have pretty décor and impressive attention to detail – paint-effect walls and furniture, everything you need in the kitchen, colourful duvets and a stock of Trivial Pursuit and other rainy day board games. Outside you will find a charming braai area in the shade of a magnificent clump of trees, and a playfull pool area surrounded by sundrenched rocks.
With a sprawl of five double rooms and three bathrooms (more if you combine it with the adjacent Cottage) the farmhouse is perfect for a large group who enjoy home from home comfort.
The three self-catering cottages can sleep 2 – 6 guests and offers spacious bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and lounge area with a cosy fire place to cuddle up to.
Further out and on its own is Kunje’s Mountain Hut, smelling of wood and sweet straw and equipped with electricity and bunk beds for a rough-and-ready crowd of 20. As such it suits those with a more rugged temperament. The Mountain Hut has two bedrooms, a kitchen area with fridge, stove and micro, and an in and outdoor braai.
Factor in a surrounding countryside offering heaps in the way of hiking, mountain biking, wild flowers, swimming holes and San paintings, and you’ve got yourself a lovely spot.
