Mountain Biking & Fishing

Mountain Biking in the Ceres Area

Day Visitors Allowed:

Eselfontein:

There are 4 different mountain bike routes: 15, 25, 40 & 60km
All routes except for the 15 km route is 80 % single track. The 25 km ride has no big climbs and does not require a great deal of fitness, but takes you through rolling (smooth) single track and forest sections. The 40 km riders do the 25 km route and then one climb up to “Death drop”, followed by an awesome downhill all the way to the finish. You need a fair amount of fitness and skill. The 60 km participants do the 40 km ride followed by one more climb going past “Red Bull Hill” and then up to the “Dead Man Walking” followed by another awesome downhill and forest section to the finish. This route is recommended for only fit and skillful cyclists and should take the same time as the “Karoo to Coast” event. Riding time is 2.5 to 6 hours.

Day cycling permits and maps are available at R20 per person and can be collected from Erica's Café in Ceres' Main Road, Voortrekker Road.
