| CHRISTIE PRINS HIKING TRAIL | The hiking trail starts and end on a farm 4km north-west of Prince Alfred's Hamlet in the Skurweberg Mountains. This hiking trail was established as an Eco-tourism project by one of the local primary schools. The route is named after a local conservationist of the area. There are 2 routes: One of ±2 hours and one of ±4 hours. Permits, map and key are available at the Hamlet Country Lodge, in Prince Alfred’s Hamlet (9km from Ceres). Permit @ R5 per person. | MATROOSBERG HIKING TRAIL | Situated in the Matroosberg Nature Reserve, 35 km’s east of Ceres. The trail is ± 13 km up the Matroosberg Mountain, running along the 4x4/ mountain safari route that reaches the Matroosberg Peak (2247 m high – the highest peak in the Boland). Day visitor entrance: R50 p/ person. Snow can be reached in winter. | HOUDENBEK FARM COTTAGES | The Heiveld Arch Hiking trail (5 hours) will take one past fynbos and fascinating rock formations up to the Heiveld Arch, with views of the Koue Bokkeveld, Sneeukop and the southern Cederberg.
